October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). This came about as a collaborative effort between government and industry to provide all Americans with the resources necessary to remain safer and more secure online.
Since its inception 12 years ago by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance NCSAM has grown and extended its reach to businesses, educational institutions and consumers, to name a few.
Due to the high volume of reports on cyber attacks, cyber security is a very important and common topic of conversation. The White House has recently passed legislation in support of the cyber security movement which is helping to further the conversation.
One of the goals of NCSAM is to raise awareness of the very real threats that exist for those who use the internet. In addition, it will engage, empower and educate on how to better protect yourself.
